Medical devices?

Medical devices are important health instruments that encompass a wide range of products, among them, contact lenses and their maintenance products.

Medical devices are intended, by their manufacturer, to be used for purposes common to those of medicines such as preventing, diagnosing or treating a human disease. They should achieve their purposes through mechanisms that do not result in pharmacological, metabolic or immunological actions, thus distinguishing themselves from medicines.

Various stakeholders (Manufacturers, Distributors, Users and Competent Authorities) are imposed a set of obligations and procedures, notably in clinical research/functional behavior assessment, classification, boundary demarcation, compliance assessment, market placement, registration/notification, acquisition and use as well as market supervision.

The contactlenses.pt and all its associates respect these legal obligations and all the products we market are in Portuguese and are transported according to the rules and care imposed.

Do not accept contact lens boxes and maintenance fluids that are not written in Portuguese. Possibly they cannot be marketed in Portugal and entered the market illegally and without mandatory care in their transport.
